Lisa Ramlow
"Working with wood provides an opportunity to incorporate my love for the natural
world into my artwork, to use material born from the earth to create pieces meant to
showcase the beauty of Nature in all its wondrous forms, as well as to bring attention
to the fragility of the world we share and the need for balance and conservation.
I work only with responsibly harvested Michigan hardwoods, primarily maple, cherry
and black walnut. "
ARTIST STATEMENT
Lisa's love of nature and the outdoors began as a child exploring the woods
near her home in Fenton, Michigan. Spending most of her childhood
immersed in the natural world instilled in her a sense of awe and respect for her
surroundings, a feeling that has grown deeper as she has grown older.
Lisa lives and works in Pinckney, Michigan, where she and partners Marie
Rust and Lori Taylor operate Bear Track Studios, LLC, a collaborative
nature art gallery and studio offering hours by appointment, classes and
workshops.
